WHAT WE BELIEVE

Statements of Faith

THE BIBLE

Truth is absolute and objective. The Bible, which reveals God’s purpose and plan for man, is the inerrant, inspired the only infallible and authoritative Word of God.

Psalm 19:7-11; Matthew 5:18;
2 Timothy 3:15–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21

THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is a divine person and the only member of the Godhead who is present in the earth. There is a present supernatural ministry of the Holy Ghost, who develops the believers’ character through a divine dose of His presence. This produces a life constantly maturing in fruit of righteousness. He has also carefully granted the spiritual gifts in the believers on the earth since the day of Pentecost and until the return of Jesus Christ for the building up of the body of Christ.

Ephesians 4:30; 1 Corinthians 6:19; 12:4, 7, 12–13; Acts 1:5; Titus 3:5

FALLEN MAN

Man has fallen from his initial state through an act of disobedience. Man’s innocence was lost, placed under the judgment of God and made subject to the troubles of life, the inevitability of death and the possible permanent separation from God. Man needs a redemptive rebirth through confession and belief in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Genesis 3

THE LORD'S SUPPER

The Lord’s Supper represents the price that was paid for salvation, being the broken body and shed blood of Jesus Christ. It is observed in obedience to and in the presence of the Risen Lord and not only reflects upon His death, but also anticipates His Second Coming.

Matthew 26:17-30, John 6:53-58;
1 Corinthians 11:17-34

THE TRINITY

There is one true God, creator of all things who is manifested in three personalities: Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.

Isaiah 45:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; John 4:24; 2 Corinthians 13:14

CELESTIAL BEINGS

There is an order of celestial beings, including unfallen angels, fallen angels and demons which occupy a position quite distinct from God or man. There is the reality of Satan, the leader of the fallen angels, and his present control over unregenerate man does exist. While they are far below God, they are nevertheless in any state above fallen man.

Matthew 25:41; Ephesians 6:10-12; Hebrews 1:4-14; Jude 6; Revelation 20:10

SALVATION

We believe that salvation is a free gift through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, given to each person who acknowledges and confesses: Jesus Christ is the Son of God, He died on the cross for the remission of our sins and He rose from the dead. It is by this that one enters the family of God, also called the church, releasing them from sin, and giving them eternal life.

Romans 3:24; 5:8-9; 10:8-10; Ephesians 2:8, 19-22; Hebrews 13:2,3

BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The baptism in the Holy Spirit, as distinct from the new birth, in speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance (Acts 2:4), was given at Pentecost. He is the promise of the Father for all believers as a definite endowment of power for service. The Holy Spirit is manifested through a variety of spiritual gifts to build and sanctify the Church. It is the will of God that every believer be filled with the Holy Ghost.

John 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; 2:1-4; 8:14-17; 10:44-48; 19:1-6

JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ is true God (the Son) and true man. The Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.  He willingly gave His life as the perfect and all-sufficient substitutionary sacrifice for the sins of man; that through His redemption man can know freedom from the penalty, guilt and effects of sin. He arose from the dead in His physical, glorified body with which He is now seated in Heaven, making intercession for believers. He is coming again in His glorified body to establish His kingdom as both true God and true Man.

Isaiah 7:14; Luke 24; John 1:14; Colossians 1:13-18; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4;
Hebrews 4:14-15; 1Peter 2:24

MAN

God created humanity, male and female, in the image of God. With the image of God, humanity receives the capacity for self-understanding, self-definition, self-determination, creativity, and community.

Gen 1:26-31; 2:4-25

WATER BAPTISM

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are actions, which symbolize important truths and are to be observed out of obedience to the command of Jesus Christ. While they are not essential to salvation, they are essential to discipleship and obedience. Baptism in water by immersion is a symbol of the cleansing power of the blood of Christ and a testimony to our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Matthew 28:19,20; Romans 6:4;
Colossians 2:12; Acts 8:36-39

DIVINE HEALING

Healing is provided in the redemptive work of Christ and is available to every believer.

Isaiah 53:4-5; Matthew 8:17; Mark 16:18; James 5:14-15; 1 Peter 2:24
